I have personal banking accounts with both the Yorkshire bank and HSBC. I'm trying to close my Yorkshire Bank account, but they never replied to my letter in February. When I rang two weeks later they said they couldn't take a bank transfer request from me and instead would have to do it via HSBC. Now more than two weeks after sending the transfer request via HSBC, Yorkshire Bank say they can't transfer the money because I haven't sent them my bank card or cheque books. But in the transfer request it said that I simply had to sign that I had destroyed these. I rang Yorkshire Bank today and they said they'd look into it.
It's really frustrating because I have £3500 at the Yorkshire Bank and I don;t appreciate that they won't give me my money bank when I'm leaving. Should I really have to fight so hard just to close and account and get my cash back?
